Learn and Earn Program

The Technology For All “Learn and Earn” Program places computers in the homes of deserving students. Developed initially as a pilot program at TFA’s own community technology center at Mision Milby, other Houston area CTCs are establishing “learn and earn” programs.   The first of these is a collaborative Learn and Earn program between the M. D. Anderson YMCA and HISD’s Davis High School.  Other CTCs wishing to establish “Learn and Earn” programs for the disadvantaged students in their communities are encouraged to contact Sherrill Corson@techforall.org or call (713) 454-6400.

The typical course length is 6 weeks, (1.5 hours per session per week) with 9 contact hours of class time.

Typical Learn and Earn Course Requirements:

  1. Students can not be absent more than once during the six (6) class session course period.
  2. Students must attend Class 1 and Class 6 to earn a computer.
  3. Students must complete the “re-build” exercise during Class 6.
  4. Students must provide six (6) hours of volunteer service during the course period.
  5. Students will need a City of Houston Public Library “Power Card”, if they do not already have one.
