Misión Milby CDC

The Mission Milby Community Development Corporation manages the facility in which TFA’s program office is located.  Known as Misión Milby, the facility is owned by Milby United Methodist Church, which established the CDC to guide its faith-based community development activities in the community.  The building is located at 2220 Broadway in Houston’s Pecan Park Super Neighborhood, a subsection of what is known as Houston’s East End. The Greater East End is bounded by I-45 on the southwest, U. S. 59 and Buffalo Bayou/Houston Ship Channel on the north and the east, and Loop 610 on the southeast.  These boundaries also comprise the boundaries of the East End Management District and five super neighborhoods designated by the City of Houston: Pecan Park/Harrisburg, Second Ward, Eastwood/Lawndale, Lawndale/Wayside, and Magnolia Park.

The vision of the Misión Milby CDC is to significantly reduce poverty in the community and revitalize it while preserving its heritage and honoring its culture and character.

The Misión Milby mission is to bring the tools of community development and community technology together in a collaborative effort of neighborhood improvement with stakeholders and other community partners to serve Houston’s Pecan Park neighborhood and other East End neighborhoods.

Technology For All is community partner with Misión Milby CDC. Together TFA and MMCDC operate the Misión Milby Community Technology Center, are working on the TFA Wireless initiative, and are using technology as a tool to improve Pecan Park and other East End neighborhoods.
