In collaboration with the Mission Milby Community Development Corporation, Technology For All and Technology For All-Houston operate the Mission Milby Community Technology Center (MMCTC) located at 2220 Broadway in Houston’s East End, a community of high poverty and low educational attainment.
Initial funding for the development of the MMCTC came from Shell. Additional funds and technology resources have been donated by the Hamman Foundation, the RGK Foundation, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, the Beaumont Foundation of America, the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund, the Rockwell Fund, Hewlett Packard and more.
TFA operates its program office out of Mission Milby and has invested over $500,000 in technology infrastructure in the facility. The initial phases of JobTech are being developed in this facility, which already has limited space. TFA’s existing IT infrastructure includes connection to 1 gigabit fiber loop and the Internet, a server farm delivering content to CTCs across the U.S., and over 50 desktop and wireless computers utilized for training community residents and for JobTech. |
