For All Develops Alliance with Beaumont Foundation Houston, Texas and Beaumont, Texas - (January 22, 2003) – It was announced today that Technology For All (TFA) has entered into a national collaboration with the Beaumont Foundation as a alliance partner. The Beaumont Foundation of America (BFA), a non-profit philanthropic organization, plans to grant approximately $350 million to provide state-of-the-art technology equipment to community organizations, public, private, parochial and charter K-12 schools, and to individuals throughout the United States. The Foundation believes new technologies are essential tools for progress in the 21st century, and that given access to digital information, people of all ages and all incomes will have an equal opportunity to advance socially, economically and intellectually. In this regard, the Beaumont Foundation is committed to the key principle of digital inclusion for all of our nation’s individuals living at or below the national poverty level (http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty). The Beaumont Foundation has identified national nonprofit agencies and community-based organizations that have established relationships within low-income communities. By establishing alliances with reputable organizations such as Technology For All, the Beaumont Foundation hopes to increase the benefits of its philanthropy and support comprehensive national efforts to create digital inclusion across the United States. Online applications may be submitted to the Foundation January 6 – March 31, 2003. Having worked with the Beaumont Foundation to create our alliance, Technology For All is familiar with the application process and has established internal mechanisms to facilitate and strengthen the proposals submitted by community technology centers with which we have relationships. Community organizations interested in submitting a proposal are encouraged to contact Dr. Douglas Caldwell at 713.961.0012 at TFA’s operations center for guidance and suggestions. Existing community technology initiatives that could benefit from this program are encouraged to review the Beaumont Foundation information online at www.bmtfoundation.com. Organizations that are friends of Technology For All can request from Dr. Caldwell (713.961.0012) a unique Technology For All/Beaumont Foundation Alliance Partner identification code number for use in submitting an online application. This code must be included as a part of the online application. Use of this code will increase the chances for a successful proposal. TFA
President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Will Reed noted, “We
are grateful to the Beaumont Foundation of America for its commitment
to the community and look forward to working with BFA to ensure that
all persons have the same opportunities many take for granted.”
