Polis Foundation to Support Technology For All-Colorado Denver, Colorado and Houston, Texas - (June 15, 2001) - Technology For All and the Jared Polis Foundation announced today that Technology For All-Colorado would become a project of the Foundation. As a three-year project of the Foundation, Technology For All-Colorado will have the freedom to focus more on the delivery of services to the community. As a Colorado nonprofit corporation, Technology For All-Colorado (TFA-Colorado) brings technology to Colorado's underserved communities. To accomplish this, TFA-Colorado develops relationships with corporations, foundations, community based organizations, philanthropic groups and individuals in an effort to use technology as a tool to create educational, economic and personal opportunities for Colorado's underserved population. Since its formation in the summer of 2000, Technology For All-Colorado has developed strategic supportive relationships with 35 community organizations across Colorado serving underserved constituents. These include the Family Learning Center in Boulder and several organizations in Denver including Youth Biz, Save Our Youth, Rocky Mountain SER and The Denver Rescue Mission. Through its affiliation with the national organization Technology For All, TFA-Colorado has provided over 500 computers, consultation and online educational content to community based organizations across Colorado in an effort to use technology as a tool to help provide educational opportunities for their constituents. Online educational content provided by TFA includes software applications and an eLearning environment that includes over 1500 courses, 24X7 mentoring, discussion groups and online seminars. TFA will be working with Colorado corporations to sponsor students in local community based organizations supported by the expanded TFA-Colorado initiative. "This new relationship with the Jared Polis Foundation give us the opportunity to focus our efforts on services to our community partners" said Technology For All-Colorado Executive Director Sam Owen. Technology For All President and CEO Will Reed praised the gift. "We are grateful to the Jared Polis Foundation for their enormous support that will help support our services in Colorado and create more opportunities for disadvantaged children, youth and their families. This will give the people of Colorado expanded educational opportunities through the community based organizations that they are comfortable with." "The Jared Polis Foundation recognizes the serious impact the digital divide is making on the educational opportunities available in our lower income communities," said Jared Polis of the Foundation. "At the Foundation, we believe it is important to empower people with the knowledge necessary to embrace the digital age. Our Foundation is focused on creating educational opportunities for disadvantaged persons across Colorado. Our relationship and support of Technology For All-Colorado is a natural fit that will help us achieve our objectives." About
