Technology For All and LINCT Coalition to Work Together

Houston, Texas and New York, New York - (June 15, 2001) - A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between Technology For All (TFA) and the LINCT Coalition to work together on collaborative projects that will bring technology to the underserved and the communities they live in. TFA and LINCT (Learning and Information Networking for Community via Technology) will work together to expand the important work that both organizations are doing in the communities they serve. LINCT has established "Learn and Earn" programs in several communities around the US including New York City, Long Island, NY, Denver, CO, Atlanta, GA, Oakland and Los Angeles, CA. TFA has supportive relationships with CTCs and/or local initiatives in fifteen US cities.

Both Technology For All and LINCT bring important assets to the working relationship. Technology For All brings its community and program relationships as well as key corporate relationships including its national sponsors ENRON and SmartForce. Through its corporate relationships TFA has developed a robust platform to develop and host and develop eLearning content, community resources and and rich media content for CTCs and their educational initiatives. TFA also brings its relationship with corporations that wish to redeploy corporate technology assets with community based organizations serving the underserved. LINCT brings its community relationships in several cities, the nationally acclaimed "Learn and Earn" programs to place computers in the homes of underserved youth and adults, and LINCT "eLearningSpace" initiative that will be hosted by TFA on its network. The LINCT Learn & Earn programs provide: 1) computer training for adults, children, and families who lack access to training and computer-based jobs; 2) ownership of 'learned and earned' computers; 3) access to community resources on-line; and 4) implementation of a community-based reward for volunteerism using Time Dollars, a tax-exempt "currency of caring".

"This new relationship with the LINCT Coalition will help both organizations maximize our efforts in collaboration with the community-based organizations we work with." said Technology For All President and CEO Will Reed.
